November Lake Hike at Fall River, Kansas: A Chilly 41-Degree Adventure
Today, Nancy, CJ, and I decided to brave the great outdoors with a little hiking adventure at Fall River. Spoiler alert: it was more of a brisk stroll than an epic trek, but hey, we’ll take it. The weather? Let’s just say Mother Nature cranked the A/C down to a frosty 41°F with a side of biting wind. Burr, chilly cold doesn’t even begin to cover it! The walk was about 2.5 miles along the lake—short and sweet but enough to remind us why layers are a winter essential.
Of course, no adventure is complete without me turning into a full-blown paparazzo. I snapped a ton of pictures to share on my blog because, you know, if it’s not documented, did it even happen? Nancy was right there with me, playing photog too, so the gallery below is packed with scenic lake views, candid moments, and maybe a few attempts to capture our frozen breath in the air. Check them out—your likes and comments are highly encouraged!
For those scratching their heads wondering, “Where on Earth is Fall River?” let me enlighten you. It’s about 60 miles east of Wichita, Kansas, right off Highway 400. From Augusta, it’s an easy 50-mile drive, making it a perfect day trip. The area is all kinds of gorgeous, and I’m already scheming to bring my bike out here for a proper cycling adventure. Rolling hills, open skies, and that serene lake—it’s calling my name.
All in all, we had a fantastic time, even if our noses were running faster than we were. A little cold air, a lot of laughs, and some seriously stunning views made it well worth the trip. So go ahead, dive into the photo gallery below, and let me know what you think. Got a favorite shot? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear from you!
