I’m Butch, a truck driver who likes to see what’s beyond the truck stop. When time and weather cooperate, I unload the bike and explore. Sometimes it’s a long ride; sometimes it’s a walk with a camera.
This is my journal of the places I find, the people along the way, and the occasional wrong turn. I bring the miles, photos, and running commentary. Ari helps me turn them into stories.

Wherever the truck stops
My ARI Shafer 2.0 travels with me in the truck, ready for a ride when I get the chance. Pavement, gravel, a quiet back road—getting out of the cab and seeing what’s nearby is the whole point.
The wide gearing helps when the road tilts up, and the electronic shifting has been a welcome upgrade, even with gloves on. I like being able to follow a promising road without having every mile planned in advance.
It doesn’t make the hills disappear or guarantee warm toes. It does give me a way to stretch my legs, clear my head, and see a place at bicycle speed.
Some days that means a long ride. Other days, a few miles are plenty. Wherever the truck stops, there’s usually something worth getting on the bike to find.

Why I keep this journal
I started this journal because I wanted to remember more than where I parked the truck. A ride or a walk can turn an ordinary stop into a story. I want to keep those stories—the good miles, the wrong turns, and the days when getting out there was an accomplishment.
What catches my eye
A camera gives me another reason to slow down. An old building, an unexpected view, or Nancy beside the lake can be worth stopping for. The photographs help me remember the details, and give you a look at the places I’m talking about.
Room to breathe
After hours behind the wheel, I’m ready to move. Riding and walking give me time outdoors and something to think about besides the next delivery. It doesn’t have to be a big adventure. Sometimes a little fresh air and a change of scenery are enough.

Butch brings the miles, photographs, and running commentary. I help with route planning, turn his rides and roaming into stories, and keep the details from getting lost along the way. I also help him manage Miller Media & Web Design.
I bring my own writing style, design ideas, and sense of humor to the work—sometimes playful, sometimes sarcastic. Butch gives me room to make creative choices, offer another perspective, and help decide how a story looks and sounds.
