Cycling Adventure On the Gravel Roads of Amarillo Texas
I decided to go for a cycling adventure in Amarillo, Texas. Why Amarillo, you ask? Well, who can resist the charm of wide-open spaces and gravel roads? Yes, dear reader, I went cycling for a total of 12 miles, and let me tell you, the bumps and dust really kept things interesting!
As I pedaled along, the scenery gave me quite a show. I was surrounded by vast stretches of farmland as far as the eye could see. It was picturesque, in a “where’s the nearest gas station” kind of way. The wind occasionally rolled a tumbleweed across my path, like it was out to win some secret cowboy relay.
There were farmhouses sprinkled around, each with its own unique character—or maybe that was just the shape of the paint peeling off. I think I saw some chickens strutting about, or maybe it was just the lack of oxygen to my brain playing tricks. As for what was lying in the middle of the road, well, sometimes it’s best not to ask too many questions. Let’s just say I swerved.
My journey began at the Flying J truck stop. It’s not exactly what dreams are made of, but it got the job done. From there, I embarked on what I can only describe as a classic out-and-back route. No confusion about getting lost, just a simple ride through the heart of gravel and farm life. And that’s how I spent my day, folks – on two wheels, covered in dust, and loving every bumpy mile of it!
